IxD.ma at the Estonian Academy of Arts

IxD.ma is the international Master’s curriculum that I am currently developing as a design researcher and educator. In the image above, you can see Nursultan Barun & Karri Kaljend (team 2020) while conducting field research for their “Introduction to IxD” course that I have been leading since the academic year 2019/2020. The goal of this course is to provide an opportunity for students to learn and practice the essential methods and approaches in Interaction Design Thinking, from exploratory research to ideation, prototyping and storytelling. The course will also act as an introduction to the culture of the program, and its methods for working, collaborating, reflecting, and learning. This is a studio course, where the students are working on a theme related to the city of Tallinn. They are required to work together in teams to become more familiar with each other’s work styles and develop better communication skills for future studies while discovering the local culture.
